The Production module in Qbil-Trade – also referred to internally as Mixing\/Production – allows trading companies with their own processing or blending operations to create production orders that consume input stock and produce new output lots. It sits alongside the core trade flow and keeps full traceability intact throughout the production chain.<\/p>

Why so many traders use our Production module<\/strong><\/h2>

Commodity trading is, by definition, competitive on price. When multiple suppliers offer the same product from the same origin at comparable quality, the margin for differentiation is narrow.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

Traders who produce their own blends or mixes break out of that dynamic. A proprietary blend – whether it is a specific protein mix for animal feed, a fat blend for food manufacturing, or a tailored dairy powder compound – is no longer a direct commodity. It carries the supplier’s name, a defined specification, and a production history. Buyers cannot simply compare it to a competitor’s price list.<\/p>

This is why the Production module is one of the most widely used in Qbil-Trade: almost 70% of our customers have it enabled. For many of them, blending is not a side activity –\u00a0 it is a core part of their commercial proposition.<\/p>

Qbil-Trade supports this by keeping the production step inside the same trade flow. The input lots, their origins, their costs, and the resulting output lot all stay connected. This means the cost price of the blend is accurate, the traceability is intact for food safety and customer audits, and the finished product flows directly into sales contracts without leaving the system.<\/p>

What the module does<\/strong><\/h2>

Production orders<\/strong><\/h4>

A production order records which input lots are consumed and which output lot is produced. Qbil-Trade tracks the full origin chain: if you blend a blended lot again, the traceability of all original sources remains intact. There is no practical limit on the number of mixing steps.<\/p>

Each production order is registered separately in Qbil-Trade and has its own main menu entry.<\/p>

Stock impact<\/strong><\/h4>

Creating a production order consumes the source stock lots and creates one or more new lots. The resulting lot references its full origin, giving a clear audit trail from raw material to finished product.<\/p>

Cost registration<\/strong><\/h4>

Production orders can carry costs. For example: processing fees, labour, or packaging. These are entered via configurable cost types and can be booked as a purchase booking later in the process, keeping the cost price of the produced lot accurate.<\/p>

Warehouse selection<\/strong><\/h4>

The warehouse for a production order can be set manually or auto-populated. For companies with a single production site, auto-selection reduces manual steps.<\/p>

Numbering<\/strong><\/h4>

By default, production orders receive their own sequential numbering. Optionally, Qbil-Trade can assign contract-style numbers to production orders instead, which is useful when production orders need to align with a contract administration.<\/p>

Planning and portions<\/strong><\/h4>

With the optional combined configuration enabled, the production order screen gains future planning fields and portion-based entry – useful for pre-planned production runs.<\/p>

Recipes<\/strong><\/h4>

A recipe can be defined in product Root Data. When a production order is created for that product, the recipe acts as a starting template. This reduces manual entry when the same blend is produced repeatedly.<\/p>

Production date on stock lots<\/strong><\/h4>

Production date tracking on stock lots records when a lot was produced. This is relevant for shelf-life management and quality tracking and can be enabled independently of the production order module.<\/p>

Reference number shortening<\/strong><\/h4>

When lots pass through multiple blending or processing steps, reference numbers in the stock grid can grow long. An option exists to trim these for display purposes without affecting the underlying traceability.<\/p>

Weighbridge and physical weight registration<\/strong><\/h4>

Physical weight registration is handled by the Own Warehouse<\/strong> module, which manages stock before and after production and includes a pre-finalization workflow. Production floor staff can log in separately using the Anmeldung Fabrik\/Lager<\/strong>, a limited-access account type designed for operators who only need to submit final weights, without access to the full trade environment.<\/p>

For automated weight registration, for example, a direct connection to a weighbridge or a silo management system, Qbil-Trade offers an API<\/strong>. This allows external systems to push weight data directly into the system, so the physical measurement step can be automated without manual re-entry in Qbil-Trade.<\/p>

Quality assurance<\/strong><\/h4>

Der Qualit\u00e4tssicherung<\/strong> module manages certificates at relation and product level. When a certificate is missing or expired, the relevant contract is blocked automatically until the issue is resolved. This works alongside the production flow: if a product or supplier requires a specific certificate, Qbil-Trade enforces this before the lot reaches the production order.<\/p>
